Karaburun


 

Karaburun is located on a peninsula surrounded by Aegean on the east, west and north and Urla, Çesme on the south. Its altitude is 50 metres.  It is 100 km from Izmir city centre. The surface of the district is 484 km2. According to 2000 census, the population is 13.446.



 

The mountainous land does not let agriculture. The social and business life is very simple in the district. Fishing and little trade are done.

Karaburun is surrounded by sea on the three sides and takes winds all the time. With its dark blue sea, clear air, nature, cultural richness, Karaburun is a perfect choice for holiday.

Karaburun is also an important biology reserve. There are more than 200 kinds of birds on the peninsula such as Karaburun home seagulls and Mediterranean seals. Its shores are home to Mediterranean seals which diminish in number.

Kuyucak, close to Karaburun centre, beaches have blue flag.
